Motorcycle operator died, passenger injured

A tragic accident in Racine County, Wisconsin has resulted in the death of a motorcycle rider and left the passenger severely injured. The driver of an Amazon box truck involved in the crash has been charged with homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence of marijuana.

The incident occurred on September 24 at the intersection of Highway K and West Frontage Road in the Village of Raymond. According to prosecutors, Jonathan Bueche, a 31-year-old resident from Antioch, Illinois was operating the Amazon truck while under the influence of marijuana.

An investigation revealed that Bueche failed to yield right-of-way to the motorcycle and turned directly in front of it within a 35 mph zone. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the side of the truck. Tragically, despite immediate medical attention at scene, the motorcyclist succumbed to their injuries. The passenger was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

During questioning by authorities following the crash, Bueche appeared "upset, worried and flustered." He admitted hitting the motorcycle but continued with his turn before realizing he was dragging it along. Prosecutors allege that Bueche had consumed marijuana at his father's birthday celebration the night prior to the accident; however he claimed that he always waits at least four hours after smoking weed before driving.

Bueche was subsequently arrested after undergoing field sobriety testing and providing blood samples for analysis. An evaluation conducted on him indicated impairment due to THC consumption - an active ingredient found in marijuana.

On Tuesday September 26th , Bueche made his initial appearance in court where cash bond was set at $5,000 along with a $50,000 signature bond requirement.

This devastating incident serves as another reminder about responsible drug use and its potential consequences when combined with operating a vehicle. The loss of life and the injuries sustained in this crash are a tragic reminder of the importance of staying sober behind the wheel to ensure the safety of oneself and others on the road.
