Fatal Crash Involving Car and Box Truck in Waterbury Leaves One Dead

One driver was killed and another was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Waterbury police have reported a fatal accident that occurred on Tuesday morning. According to the authorities, the incident involved a car and a box truck on Lakewood Road. One driver was killed while another was hospitalized.
The identity of the deceased has not been released by Waterbury police yet. The crash took place around 5:40 am in the 200 block of Lakewood Road. Lieutenant Robert Davis stated that one of the drivers had to be extricated from their vehicle with serious life-threatening injuries.
The victim was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries less than an hour after arriving at the hospital, as per reports from local law enforcement officials.
The other driver involved in this tragic accident also sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention; however, they are expected to survive as their injuries were described as non-life-threatening by Lt. Davis.
At present, Waterbury Police Department's crash reconstruction unit is investigating this incident further. As part of their investigation, Lakewood Road has been closed off temporarily until further notice.
