Fatal Crash in Energy, Illinois Claims Life of Ciara Corbitt

One Person Dead in SUV and Semi Truck Crash in Energy, Illinois
On Wednesday morning, June 21, a fatal crash occurred involving an SUV and a semi truck on Route 148 in Energy, Illinois. According to the Energy Police Department, at around 8:06 a.m., Ciara Corbitt of Herrin was driving her 2010 Ford Explorer southbound on Route 148 near the 300 block of N. Pershing Street when she crossed the center turn lane and hit the trailer of a northbound semi tractor trailer driven by Zachary Ramage of Anna.
Tragically, Corbitt did not survive the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. Ramage was uninjured. The crash caused both northbound lanes of Route 148 to be closed for approximately three hours while authorities investigated.
An Illinois State Police accident reconstruction expert was also called in to complete further investigation into this tragic incident. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this devastating loss.
