Fatal Crash in Aiken County, South Carolina

A tragic accident occurred on September 13, 2023, resulting in the death of one individual. According to Lance Corporal Lena Butler from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS), the incident involved two vehicles and took place on Wagener Road, approximately nine miles west of Aiken.
The driver of a 2007 Dodge Caliber was traveling eastbound on Wagener Road at around 9 p.m. Meanwhile, a 2017 Subaru SUV with both a driver and passenger was heading northbound on Hatchaway Bridge Road. As they attempted to make a left turn onto Wagener Road, the SUV collided with the Caliber driven by an unidentified person.
Following the collision, both drivers were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, ten days later on September 23rd, 2023, the driver of the SUV succumbed to their injuries and passed away. The passenger in the SUV did not sustain any injuries during this unfortunate incident.
The SCDPS is currently investigating this accident further to determine its exact cause and circumstances surrounding it. At present, no information regarding the deceased driver's identity has been released by Aiken County coroner authorities.
This devastating crash serves as a reminder for all motorists to exercise caution while driving and remain vigilant at all times behind-the-wheel.
