Jackson Police Investigate Fatal Crash Resulting in Two Deaths and Multiple Hospitalizations

The Jackson Police Department (JPD) is currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Wednesday morning, resulting in two fatalities and leaving three individuals hospitalized. The incident began when officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle that was potentially involved in auto burglaries.

Upon attempting to stop the Hyundai, the suspects fled from the scene, leading officers on a pursuit. The chase ensued down Raymond Road before continuing onto Terry Road. Tragically, at a nearby intersection, the suspects collided with a Dodge truck. The driver of the truck was immediately transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects were carrying a significant quantity of drugs and weapons within their vehicle.

According to JPD reports, none of the four suspects inside the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of impact. As a result, two individuals were ejected from their seats and pronounced dead at the scene. One suspect remains stable while another is listed in critical condition.

In addition to its devastating consequences, this crash has caused traffic disruptions during Wednesday morning commute hours. Chief Wade advised drivers to avoid University Boulevard and Highway 80 as he expects an active scene for several hours ahead: "It's probably going to be closed off for a couple of hours... we recommend that you go another route like Ellis Avenue or Gallatin Street."

Furthermore, JPD anticipates receiving reports regarding stolen property as individuals wake up on Wednesday morning. Officers have already recovered several IDs and encourage victims to come forward.

The investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing, with JPD working diligently to gather all necessary information surrounding the incident.
