Henry Fred Koens Killed in Menno Crash

A fatal car crash occurred on Tuesday, May 30th east of Menno resulting in the death of one person. The victim has been identified as Henry Fred Koens, a 92-year-old resident from Santa Maria, California. According to authorities, the accident involved two vehicles: a 2008 Chevrolet Express traveling south on U.S. Highway 81 and a 2022 Lincoln UT traveling east on U.S. Highway 18.

Reports indicate that the collision happened when the Lincoln UT did not come to a complete stop at the stop sign when it entered the intersection. Both vehicles then collided and ended up in a ditch off-road.

Unfortunately, Mr. Koens was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders who arrived shortly after receiving reports of the incident. South Dakota's Highway Patrol is currently investigating this tragic event further.
