Fatal Crash in Milbank Leaves 28-Year-Old Female Passenger Dead

South Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating a tragic crash that occurred in Milbank on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the death of one individual and leaving another with serious injuries. The incident took place around noon when a 2004 GMC Yukon XL was traveling north on 5th Street South in Milbank.
According to reports, the vehicle veered off course at the East Park Avenue intersection, driving up onto the curb. Despite this initial mishap, the driver continued through the intersection at a high speed before ultimately colliding with a tree located in a front yard on the west side of the road.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and transported the 34-year-old male driver to Milbank Avera Hospital via ambulance. Although he sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries, his condition remains stable under medical care.
Tragically, however, things did not end as well for his 28-year-old female passenger. She was pronounced dead upon arrival by authorities and it has been reported that she was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of impact.
As investigations are still ongoing, law enforcement officials have refrained from releasing any further details or disclosing names involved until family members have been properly notified. It is important to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
