Fatal Crash in Oxly, Missouri: Sherkil Reed and Whitney Smith

One fatality, two minor injuries
A tragic accident in Ripley County resulted in the death of one man and left two others injured. The incident occurred on August 31 at approximately 10:20 a.m., according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Reports.
The crash took place on Route T, three miles north of Oxly, Missouri when the vehicle veered off the left side of the road and overturned. Sadly, one of the occupants, identified as 31-year-old Sherkil Reed from Poplar Bluff, lost his life at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle was a 16-year-old female who sustained injuries during the crash. Another occupant involved was Whitney Smith, aged 37 from Qulin; they also suffered injuries as a result of this devastating accident. Both individuals were promptly transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in Poplar Bluff for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were reported to be minor.
Missouri State Highway Patrol revealed that while Reed did not have his seat belt fastened at the time of impact, both the driver and Smith had properly secured themselves with their seat belts.
Authorities are currently investigating further details surrounding this tragic incident to determine its cause accurately.
