Fatal Crash Shuts Down Westbound Lanes of I-78 in Upper Macungie Twp.

Pennsylvania State Police are currently investigating a tragic accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the closure of westbound lanes on I-78 in Lehigh County. The incident took place near mile marker 47.6 in Upper Macungie Township.
According to authorities, the crash involved a collision between a tractor-trailer and a sedan. Tragically, one person lost their life as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
To ensure public safety and facilitate ongoing investigations, traffic heading westbound is being redirected onto Route 100 to Old U.S. 22 before rejoining I-78 at Route 863.
