Fatal Crash in South Nashville: Jason Andrew Norfleet Killed

A tragic accident in South Nashville claimed the life of a 40-year-old man early Tuesday morning. The crash occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on September 19th, in the 300 block of East Thompson Lane.
According to authorities, the initial call reported a crash at the intersection of East Thompson Lane and Lawndale Drive. Metro police identified the victim as Jason Andrew Norfleet, who was driving a 1995 GMC pickup truck at a high rate of speed on Thompson Lane when tragedy struck.
As Norfleet negotiated a bend in the road, his truck's rear passenger side collided with a concrete barrier. The impact caused multiple subsequent collisions until the vehicle finally came to rest in the intersection.
Tragically, Norfleet did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medics. However, during their assessment, medics noticed injuries on Norfleet's body that raised concerns. Upon further investigation, it was determined that these injuries were older and unrelated to this particular incident.
The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and confirmed that there were no gunshot wounds present on Norfleet's body. They concluded that his injuries were consistent with those sustained in a vehicle crash.
This devastating accident serves as another reminder of how important it is for drivers to exercise caution while behind the wheel. Authorities are continuing their investigation into what led up to this fatal collision.
