Fatal Crash on State Road 104: Damon Herbert Killed in Sideswipe Collision

The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) have concluded their investigation into a tragic crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. The incident took place on State Road 104 near mile marker 52, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.
According to NMSP, the motorcycle was being driven by Damon Herbert, a 46-year-old individual. Herbert was traveling eastbound behind a pickup truck when the accident unfolded. As per reports, the truck driver began to slow down in preparation for making a left turn into a driveway.
In an attempt to overtake the slowing vehicle, Herbert maneuvered his motorcycle and entered the opposite travel lane heading westward just as the truck initiated its left turn. Tragically, this led to a sideswipe collision between both vehicles.
Regrettably, Damon Herbert succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Emergency services were promptly dispatched; however, they were unable to save his life.
Following thorough investigations conducted by NMSP officials, it has been determined that no further inquiries are required regarding this particular incident.
