Fatal Crash on State Route 125 in Union Township: Jewel M. Whiting Killed

One fatality, one minor injury
According to the Ohio State Patrol, a tragic crash occurred early Sunday morning on State Route 125 in Union Township, resulting in one fatality and another person being hospitalized with minor injuries. The incident took place around 4:30 a.m. when a 23-year-old man from Tennessee was driving his 2011 Ford Fusion eastbound on SR 125.
The vehicle veered off the left side of the road, colliding with two traffic signs and a parked car. Subsequently, it rolled over and struck another parked car. Emergency services were called to the scene immediately.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was swiftly transported by EMS to Anderson Mercy Hospital for treatment. Tragically, Jewel M. Whiting, a 21-year-old passenger from Smyrna, Tennessee, did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
While authorities have confirmed that the driver had been wearing his seatbelt during the accident, it remains unclear whether Whiting had done so as well.
The Ohio State Patrol is currently conducting an investigation into this devastating incident on SR 125 in Union Township.
