In a devastating incident on Sunday evening, a man lost his life in a crash that occurred on US Highway 53. The Eau Claire Police Department has provided an update regarding the accident.*
According to the latest information released by the Eau Claire Police, their investigation indicates that a truck had come to a stop on the shoulder of the highway when it was struck from behind by an SUV. Shockingly, one of the occupants of the truck was outside of the vehicle at the time and was also hit by the SUV. Tragically, this individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At present, no arrests have been made in connection with this incident. The Eau Claire Police are actively investigating all aspects surrounding this tragic crash but have refrained from disclosing any additional details at this time.
The collision took place around 7:30 p.m., prompting officers to swiftly respond to Northbound US Hwy 53, just north of North Crossing. As a result of this unfortunate event, temporary lane closures were implemented as authorities worked diligently to manage traffic flow and conduct necessary investigations.
