Fatal Crash in Van Nuys: Wrong-Way Driver Kills One

One person dead, driver arrested for DUI
A tragic incident occurred in Van Nuys on Sunday night, resulting in the death of a person after their vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver. The Los Angeles Police Department suspects that the driver who crossed the center line was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The crash took place around 11 p.m. on Victory Boulevard, east of Columbus Avenue. According to authorities, the intoxicated driver was traveling east on Victory when they veered into opposing traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Regrettably, the driver of the second vehicle did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, their identity has not been disclosed including their name, age, and gender.
Emergency services promptly transported both the first vehicle's driver and passenger to a local hospital for medical attention. Detective Lisset Fuentes revealed that the passenger—a woman—sustained moderate injuries which may include a possible broken leg. Meanwhile, law enforcement arrested the suspected impaired driver believed to be in his 30s for driving under the influence (DUI).
Authorities are currently investigating what led up to this devastating crash. Detective Fuentes stated that it will take some time to piece together all relevant information such as speed and other contributing factors.
