Vermont Man Dies in Fatal Dirt-Bike Accident
On Wednesday evening, Vermont State Police responded to a fatal dirt-bike accident off Quarry Road in Shaftsbury. According to police reports, 28-year-old Ty Kipp of Bennington was pronounced dead after life-saving measures were unsuccessful.
Police arrived on the scene around 7 p.m. following reports of a dirt-bike crash. Other riders were present and performed CPR on Kipp who was unresponsive at the time. Both Shaftsbury Fire and Bennington Rescue arrived shortly after and began administering life-saving measures but unfortunately could not save him.
After conducting an investigation, troopers determined that Kipp struck a chain that was hung across a camp road entrance while riding his dirt bike which caused significant injuries to his upper torso and neck area.
Authorities have confirmed that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be contributing factors in this incident. The United Counseling Service via the Vermont State Police Imbedded Mental Health Specialist Program, Shaftsbury Fire Department, and the Bennington Rescue Squad all responded to the scene.
This tragic event serves as a reminder for all riders to exercise caution when operating any type of vehicle or equipment. Our thoughts go out to Ty Kipp's family during this difficult time.
