A 17-year-old passenger, Chloe Hutchcraft, tragically died in a motor vehicle accident in Jasper County, Iowa. The driver, Benjamin Kelne, has been charged with multiple offenses including involuntary manslaughter.

On August 26th, 2023, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle accident in a rural area of Jasper County, Iowa. Tragically, Chloe Hutchcraft, a 17-year-old passenger in the vehicle involved in the accident, lost her life due to injuries sustained.

After conducting an investigation into the incident, authorities have charged Benjamin Kelne, an 18-year-old resident of Grinnell and the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Kelne faces multiple charges including reckless driving, possession or purchase of alcohol as a minor, careless driving, failure to maintain control of his vehicle and involuntary manslaughter.
