20-year-old Samuel Reyes-Luna dies in fatal motorcycle crash in Burke County

One person has died following a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Burke County, North Carolina. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported the incident, which took place just before 5 p.m. on N.C. 181 near Gingercake Road.
The accident involved a single vehicle - a 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Samuel Reyes-Luna from Matthews, who was only 20 years old. According to NCSHP, the motorcycle was heading south on N.C. 181 when it veered off the right side of the road and collided with a tree.
Reyes-Luna was ejected from his vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. Troopers closed parts of N.C. 181 while they were investigating; they say speed was a factor in the crash.
This is yet another tragic reminder for drivers to exercise caution while operating their vehicles on public roads and highways across America as we approach summer months where more people are likely to be out riding motorcycles or driving cars for leisure purposes.
NCSHP continues its investigation into this incident along with other crashes that have happened recently throughout North Carolina's counties such as Charlotte where CMPD is currently investigating another fatal car crash that occurred earlier this week.
