One Person Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Interstate 71 in Columbus
Early Saturday morning, a tragic accident occurred on Interstate 71 in south Columbus, resulting in the death of one person. According to authorities, the incident took place at approximately 12:02 a.m. when a motorcyclist riding a Harley Davidson was traveling northbound on I-71 near Greenlawn Avenue.
Reports indicate that the motorcycle collided with the rear end of a dump truck that was also heading northbound. As a result of the impact, the motorcyclist lost control and fell off their bike. Tragically, they were then struck by traffic coming from the opposite direction.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene shortly after receiving reports of the crash. Unfortunately, upon assessment, they pronounced the motorcyclist dead.
The identity of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of their next-of-kin. It is unclear whether any other individuals sustained injuries as a result of this incident.
Authorities are currently investigating what led to this fatal collision on Interstate 71. They have not provided any information regarding potential factors such as speed or impairment contributing to this tragedy.
