A woman has tragically lost her life following a motorcycle accident on the U.S. 31 bypass in South Bend, Indiana. The incident occurred just before 2:10 p.m. on Saturday and involved a single motorcycle crash in the northbound lanes between the Brick Road exit and Adams Road overpass.

As authorities responded to the scene, traffic began to back up, leading to a second two-vehicle crash approximately half a mile south of the first one. While there were injuries sustained during this second wreck, officials have stated that none appear to be life-threatening.

The victim who passed away as a result of the initial motorcycle accident was an out-of-state woman whose identity is being withheld until her family can be notified.

Both investigations into these accidents are still ongoing at this time. A portion of the bypass had been closed for some time but has since reopened for public use.

This tragic event serves as yet another reminder of how important it is for all motorists to exercise caution while driving or riding on our roads and highways. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this terrible loss.
