Fatal Motorcycle vs. Vehicle Accident in Norfolk: Cody Lucas Pronounced Dead

On Friday, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a fatal accident occurred in Norfolk, Nebraska. The Norfolk Police Division (NPD) reported that 30-year-old Cody Lucas lost his life in a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle. The incident took place at the intersection of 13th Street and Omaha Avenue.
The accident involved Lucas, who was operating a Triumphant Sprint motorcycle, and a 60-year-old woman from Pierce driving a Buick Enclave. According to NPD, the Pierce woman had come to a stop at the intersection's red light while heading north. When the left turn signal turned green for westbound traffic, she proceeded through the intersection without stopping.
Meanwhile, Lucas was making an eastbound turn from the outside left turn lane designated for southbound traffic. Prior to impact with the Buick Enclave, witnesses observed Lucas' motorcycle sliding on its left side across the road.
Tragically, Lucas became trapped beneath the Pierce woman's vehicle as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
Following standard procedure in such cases, NPD dispatched their specialized Accident Investigation team along with their drone team to conduct an investigation into this incident.
In regard to alcohol involvement, NPD administered a breath test to determine if it played any role in causing or contributing to this tragic event. The results indicated no indication of alcohol consumption by either party involved.
As for legal consequences stemming from this accident, law enforcement cited the Pierce woman for misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide. She is scheduled to appear before court on November 21st, 2023.
