Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Fresno County: Female Passenger Killed

One fatality, six injuries
A tragic multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Elkhorn Avenue and Highway 41, just south of Fresno, has left one person dead and six others injured. The California Highway Patrol reported the incident.
According to authorities, the accident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Monday when a commercial truck pulling a trailer was traveling southbound on Highway 41. At this particular section of the road, it transitions from a four-lane highway to a two-lane road. Unfortunately, the truck crashed into stopped traffic at the intersection.
Preliminary investigations suggest that distraction played a role in causing the accident. The driver of the commercial truck failed to react to the traffic ahead due to being distracted, resulting in him colliding with the rear end of a Toyota vehicle. This collision then caused the Toyota to strike a Chevrolet car in front of it, which subsequently hit another commercial Ford vehicle.
The impact pushed both vehicles off-road towards eastward direction. Officials have confirmed that there were three occupants inside the Toyota during this devastating chain reaction. While minor injuries were sustained by its driver, tragically, one female passenger lost her life instantly upon impact. An infant who was seated in the back seat had to be airlifted to a local hospital for medical attention.
Significant injuries were also reported among those occupying the Chevrolet involved in this unfortunate incident.
In total, four vehicles were involved in this multi-vehicle crash which resulted in seven victims altogether. Authorities are actively investigating what led up to this tragic event.
