Fatal Multiple Vehicle Accident on I-82 near Prosser

A tragic multiple vehicle accident occurred on westbound I-82 at milepost 83 near Prosser, Washington. According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), a 35-year-old man from Grandview was driving eastbound on I-82 when he crossed the median and collided head-on with a vehicle traveling westbound. A semi truck with trailer was also involved in the collision.
Regrettably, the driver who crossed the median and caused the accident did not have his seatbelt fastened and succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the second vehicle sustained injuries and was promptly transported to Prosser Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office provided assistance to WSP by managing traffic control and facilitating clearance of the accident scene. Initially, westbound traffic on I-82 had been closed during this process but has since been reopened for normal flow.
At present, authorities are actively investigating to determine what led to this devastating incident.
