Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Harrisburg

The Harrisburg Bureau of Police is currently investigating a tragic pedestrian accident that occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 8. According to abc27, a man was struck by a vehicle along 17th Street near Mulberry Street at approximately 9:00 p.m. Despite efforts to save his life, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the victim.
Harrisburg Police have provided some details about the vehicle involved in the incident. They believe it to be a dark-colored 2005-2006 BMW X5 SUV with extensive front and grille damage. The police were able to obtain images of the vehicle which can be seen below.
After colliding with the pedestrian, the vehicle was last seen heading east on Derry Street. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed or has information regarding this incident or recognizes the described vehicle to contact Harrisburg Police at 717-558-6900.
This is an ongoing investigation.
