Driver Killed in Rollover Crash on Alligator Alley Involving Corvette and Box Truck

A tragic accident occurred on Alligator Alley in Weston, Florida resulting in the death of a box truck driver. The incident involved a Corvette colliding with the truck causing it to roll off the road and burst into flames upon landing on a rock pile that acts as a barrier for the canal.
Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue units and Weston Fire Rescue were immediately dispatched to the scene near the toll plaza on Interstate 75. Crews worked diligently to lift what remained of the wreckage onto a tow truck.
The reckless driving behavior of the Corvette driver was reported by witnesses who saw them stop just short of a toll booth after fleeing from authorities prior to colliding with the box truck.
As officials investigated and cleared debris from both vehicles, westbound lanes were closed until noon but have since been reopened. Our thoughts go out to those affected by this tragedy.
