One person died
One person has died following a rollover crash that occurred on Monday night in Newburgh, according to the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office. The incident took place on Western Avenue at around 5:30 p.m.
Reports state that a vehicle was traveling southbound before it left the roadway, hit several trees and rolled over. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
An early investigation by police suggests that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident. However, no additional details have been released by authorities as yet.
Following the incident, Western Avenue has been closed between Mudgett Road and the current fire station. Newburgh Fire and Rescue are urging people to avoid this area until further notice.
