A devastating two-car wreck on Thursday resulted in the death of a 49-year-old man, identified as Harold Kelly Parsons from Lenior, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred on U.S 321 in Caldwell County near the Watagua County line.

Parsons was driving a 2004 Porsche 911 Carrera southbound on U.S. 321 when he crossed the center line and collided with a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Andrew Calvin Sigmon, a resident of Lincolnton.

The collision proved fatal for Parsons, who tragically lost his life at the scene. Emergency personnel swiftly arrived and transported one passenger to Johnson City Medical Center via helicopter due to their serious condition.

Sigmon sustained minor injuries and received immediate medical attention at the scene from emergency responders.

The initial investigation conducted by NCSHP revealed that careless and reckless driving played contributing roles in causing this tragic accident. As part of their thorough examination, investigators closed US 321 for approximately two hours during their on-scene investigation.
