Fatal Two-Vehicle Accident in Lee County, Iowa Leaves One Dead

According to Iowa State Patrol, a fatal accident occurred in Lee County, Iowa on Saturday, June 24th at 12:00pm. The incident took place at the intersection of 205th Avenue and Highway 16 near Pilot Grove, which is about twenty minutes north of Fort Madison. The driver of an SUV failed to yield at the intersection and their passenger side was hit by a semi-truck..
The driver of the SUV was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from their vehicle upon impact. Sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's identity has yet to be released.
Multiple agencies responded to the accident including Iowa State Patrol who are leading investigations into what caused this tragic event. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this loss during such a difficult time.
