Karrie Brumfield died from her injuries, the driver and passenger of the GMC had moderate injuries
A tragic two-vehicle crash in Ponchatoula, Louisiana claimed the life of a woman on Monday morning. According to Louisiana State Police, Karrie Brumfield, a 36-year-old resident of Kentwood, died at the scene from her injuries.
The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on July 24th along LA Hwy 22 near Dutch Ln. Troopers reported that Brumfield was driving westbound in her 2010 Toyota Corolla while simultaneously a 2009 GMC Yukon was traveling eastbound.
For reasons yet unknown, Brumfield crossed over into the eastbound lane and collided with the GMC head-on. The driver and passenger of the GMC were wearing their seatbelts and suffered moderate injuries as a result of the impact. They were promptly taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Unfortunately, Brumfield sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Authorities have stated that routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers for further analysis.
