Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on 110 Freeway in Downtown Los Angeles Leaves Taxi Driver Dead

The driver of the taxi has been identified as Ken Balayev, 71 years old from Calabasas, whom was pronounced dead at the scene.
23-years-old Samantha Molina of Los Angeles has also been arrested pending possible charges which have not yet been disclosed by authorities. Molina was driving the wrong way Chevrolet, and sustained major injuries and was hospitalized.
Original Story (5/26/2023): All northbound lanes were closed early Friday morning on the 110 Freeway near Exposition Boulevard after a driver going the wrong-way on the northbound side collided head first with a taxi. The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m., resulting in one fatality and several injuries.
According to reports, the taxi driver died at the scene of the accident while there was one passenger in the vehicle who sustained major injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. The car that was traveling in the wrong direction was identified as a Chevy Cruze, and both passengers of that car also suffered major injuries requiring medical attention.
The lane closure caused significant traffic delays going northbound starting around South L.A., but California Highway Patrol reopened all lanes around 6 a.m. However, identities of those involved have not yet been released by authorities.
