Fatal Wrong-Way Crash on Route 202 in East Whiteland, Pennsylvania

Man died, three passengers injured
A tragic accident occurred early Friday morning on Route 202 in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, resulting in the death of a man. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident took place shortly after midnight near mile marker 17.2.
The victim has been identified as Matthew DeAngelis, a 42-year-old man. Investigators revealed that DeAngelis was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 202 when his 2015 GMC Sierra collided head-on with a northbound 2022 Volkswagen Taos near Mill Lane. Shockingly, he had been traveling for over five miles against traffic before the crash occurred.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and transported three passengers from the Volkswagen to an area hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, DeAngelis succumbed to his injuries at the crash site. The exact reason behind his decision to drive in the wrong direction remains unknown at this time.
As a result of this devastating incident, authorities closed down the northbound lanes of Route 202 for several hours overnight. However, both directions were reopened by approximately 5 a.m. on Friday.
This news comes as a reminder of how dangerous wrong-way accidents can be and serves as another call for drivers to remain vigilant while on the road.
