Authorities have confirmed that five people died in a small plane crash that occurred on Sunday in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Five individuals are now reported dead, with the fifth person recently announced as deceased by Horry County Coroner's Office after the victim succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

The cause of the crash is still unknown and under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated in their report that it took place northwest of Grand Stand Airport. Initially, it was reported that there were four individuals aboard the aircraft.

Flight tracking site FlightAware revealed that the plane departed at 11:02 a.m., only to crash just one minute later. The website also indicated that its most recent trip prior to this incident was on Friday when it flew from Essex County Airport in New Jersey and landed at Grand Stand Airport. The specific model involved was identified as a PA-32R-300 registered under Joseph T. Farnese, a resident of New Jersey.

It remains unclear whether Farnese was among those onboard during the tragic accident. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are currently present at the scene assisting local authorities with their inquiries.

The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the crash.
