Five Underage Occupants Injured in Car Accident in Beatrice

In a shocking incident on Wednesday evening, a vehicle carrying five occupants veered off South 19th Street in Beatrice and collided with a power pole. What makes this accident even more alarming is that all the individuals involved were under the age of 17.
According to Beatrice Police, the driver of the car was a 16-year-old female who informed authorities that she was traveling south when their 2014 Chrysler 200 crossed over from the concrete pavement of a recreational trail onto the gravel road surface. As she attempted to regain control of the vehicle, it started fishtailing. Despite her efforts to brake and straighten out, the car ultimately went off the east side of the street and crashed into a utility pole on its passenger side.
The driver had four passengers in her vehicle at the time: two 13-year-old females, one 13-year-old male, and two 12-year-old males. The severity of their injuries is currently unknown as information regarding their conditions has not been released yet. However, two occupants were transported to Bryan Health West in Lincoln while three others were taken to Beatrice Community Hospital for medical attention.
To aid in investigating this unfortunate incident further, Beatrice Police called upon an accident reconstruction specialist from Nebraska State Patrol. Their expertise will be crucial in determining what led to this terrifying crash.
Upon receiving reports about this distressing event at around 5:20 p.m., multiple units from Beatrice Fire and Rescue ambulance swiftly responded by rushing towards South 19th Street where they provided immediate assistance at the scene.
