Fatal injury

A former standout athlete from Collingswood High School tragically lost his life in a one-vehicle accident in Pennsylvania. Ryan Rodgers, 18, was fatally injured in a crash that occurred on June 26 in Franconia, according to local police.

Authorities arrived at the scene to find that Rodgers' vehicle had struck a tree around 7:15 a.m. Fortunately, they were able to remove him from the vehicle before it caught fire. Despite their efforts, Rodgers was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Rodgers was known for his athletic prowess and participated in three sports during his time at Collingswood High School - football, baseball, and wrestling. His obituary highlighted his outgoing personality and mentioned that he earned the nickname "The Mayor."

To honor Rodgers' memory, a vigil will be held on Friday, June 30th from 6 to 7 p.m. at Collingswood High School's football field. Friends and relatives can pay their respects during visitation hours scheduled for Wednesday July 5th (5-8 p.m.) and Thursday July 6th (9-10:15 a.m.) at Creran Celebration Etherington & Creran Funeral Homes located on White Horse Pike in Oaklyn.

Ryan Rodgers recently resided in Souderton after attending Williamson College of the Trades where he played quarterback for their football team. At the time of the accident, he was en route to work at Lehigh Valley Lawn.

According to his obituary, Rodgers had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as snowboarding, hunting, fishing, and riding his ATV. His comedic nature brought joy to those around him even during mundane moments.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise funds for a scholarship fund in Rodgers' name. As of Thursday night, it had already garnered $3,800 in donations.

The funeral arrangements include a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Church on West Haddon Ave in Oaklyn at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Following the service, there will be a graveside tribute at Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill.
