One person dead, two critically injured
A police chase in Fort Worth, Texas ended tragically on Wednesday afternoon. According to reports, the pursuit began after a Flock camera alerted officers about a stolen Ford crew cab pickup truck in the area. The driver of the truck refused to stop for officers and initiated a high-speed chase that eventually led to a crash.
The chase didn't last long but reached high speeds before ending when the stolen truck crashed into a pole. During the collision, another car was also struck. All three people inside were ejected from the vehicle.
Police say that three people ejected all were inside the stolen truck that sparked the pursuit. Sadly, one woman was pronounced dead at the scene while two others were taken to hospital in critical condition.
As per Fort Worth Police Sgt. Jason Spencer's statement: "As the vehicle traveled eastbound on Altamesa here, it struck another uninvolved vehicle and rolled several times, ejecting occupants."
Fortunately, despite being hit by an out-of-control vehicle during this incident, no injuries have been reported regarding any innocent bystanders or drivers who happened to be passing through at that time.
Fort Worth police are using Flock cameras as tools to track down offenders more efficiently than ever before; these cameras scan license plates and check them against crime databases continually. When someone reports their car has been stolen or if they notice suspicious activity around their property involving vehicles matching descriptions provided by law enforcement officials - such information is entered into these systems immediately so authorities can act quickly if necessary.
Sgt Spencer spoke about how dangerous pursuits can be for both suspects and law enforcement personnel involved: "There is always a balancing act between pursuing criminals versus ensuring public safety," he said.
Investigators have not yet revealed which city this particular stolen truck came from; however preliminary information suggests it wasn't from Fort Worth itself but rather some other nearby location instead.
