Elderly driver causes four-car crash on U.S. 1 in Raleigh

According to a report from the North Carolina Department of Transportation, a four-car crash occurred on Sunday afternoon at Southbound U.S. 1/Capital Boulevard near Buffaloe Road in Raleigh. The accident resulted in the closure of the southbound lanes and heavy delays in northbound traffic.
Raleigh police reported that there were minor injuries sustained from the collision. Police stated that an elderly driver suffered a medical emergency while driving along Capital Boulevard, causing them to cross over the median and hit two other cars before overturning. A fourth car was also involved in the incident.
The road remained closed for approximately an hour and a half following the crash but was reopened by 6:30 p.m.
