Update (08/22/2023): The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man who was killed in a crash involving a South Charleston Fire Department truck on Thursday evening. The victim has been identified as Franklin Dale Crouch, 46, of Charleston.

Original Story: Four individuals have been transported to the hospital following a collision involving a fire truck from the South Charleston Fire Department. The injured parties consist of three firefighters and one civilian, although the severity of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.

Emergency responders at the scene reported that one firefighter was trapped inside the fire truck and had to be extricated by first responders. A reconstruction team has been summoned to investigate the crash.

As a result of this incident, all northbound lanes are currently closed while only one southbound lane remains open for traffic.

The accident occurred around 4:07 p.m. on Thursday, September 21st at Childress Road and its access point off Corridor G between Ruth and Alum Creek in Kanawha County. According to dispatchers from Kanawha County, both a passenger vehicle and the aforementioned fire truck were involved in the collision.

Dispatchers further stated that due to this crash, all northbound lanes along Corridor G in that vicinity have been shut down as a precautionary measure.

Although there is no official information regarding injury severity available at this time, multiple ambulances have arrived at the scene to attend to those involved.
