Four Teenagers Injured in Car Crash in Hartland Township

On July 9, a car crash in Hartland Township left four teenagers injured after their vehicle collided with a tree. The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. when the teens were driving south on Bullard Road in a Chevy Impala.
According to the police report, the car was traveling at high speed when it veered off the road and crashed head-on into a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to rebound and overturn back onto the road. Fortunately, the driver, identified as a 16-year-old male from Howell, was wearing his seat belt and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
However, one of the passengers, an 18-year-old male from Fenton who was sitting in the front seat without restraints, suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage by firefighters. The two rear passengers, both aged 17 and 16 and also from Howell, were unrestrained but fortunately received only non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene and transported all occupants of the vehicle to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor via Livingston County EMS for further medical attention.
Preliminary investigations conducted by law enforcement suggest that excessive speed played a significant role in causing this accident; however, alcohol is not believed to have been involved. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau is currently conducting an investigation into this incident to gather more information about its circumstances.
