Garbage Truck Crashes into Memphis Elderly Care Home

A garbage truck collided with an elderly care home in Memphis on Wednesday morning, causing significant damage. The incident occurred at the 1400 block of Finley Road in Whitehaven.
According to reports, the driver of the Waste Pro Management truck attempted to stop at the intersection of Finley and Graceland when he realized that the vehicle's brakes had malfunctioned. Despite his efforts, the truck failed to come to a halt and crashed into the care home.
The impact of the collision resulted in severe structural damage, particularly affecting the only stairwell within the facility. This has posed challenges for both residents and staff members who rely on it for mobility within the building.
At the time of the accident, eight individuals were present inside the care home. Following assessment by medical professionals, four people were transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-critical injuries. Among the injured was the driver himself.
