Driver taken to hospital with unknown injuries
A garbage truck rollover accident occurred on Thursday morning along Highway 56 near Allen, Lyon County. The incident resulted in one man being sent to the hospital with related injuries. According to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, emergency crews were alerted to a single-vehicle collision at around 7:20 a.m. on September 14.
Upon arrival at the scene located in the 1300 block of Highway 56, first responders discovered a 2004 International 7000 garbage truck driven by Timothy Savage, aged 56 and hailing from Vassar. It was determined that as Savage was traveling down the highway, the passenger side tires of his vehicle veered off the edge of the road.
As a result of this deviation, the garbage truck rolled onto its passenger side and crashed into the north ditch. Authorities noted that Savage sustained unknown injuries and was promptly transported to Newman Regional Health for medical treatment.
It is worth mentioning that at the time of this unfortunate incident, Savage was not wearing his seatbelt. Further details regarding his condition remain undisclosed.
