Several injuries, no fatalities
A tragic accident in a quiet suburban neighborhood of Glen Oaks, Queens claimed the life of a grandfather on Tuesday afternoon. The man was unloading groceries from his car while his wife and two grandchildren sat inside when the crash occurred.
According to witnesses and police reports, a 39-year-old driver collided with the victim's car around 4 p.m., forcing it against another parked vehicle. As a result, the 67-year-old grandfather became pinned between two SUVs. Tragically, he did not survive the impact.
The collision also caused injuries to the youngest victims involved in this devastating incident. A one-year-old boy was thrown from the car and suffered a serious leg injury, while a five-year-old girl sustained cuts but is expected to recover. Both children were immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment along with their grandmother, who also suffered a leg injury.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the driver responsible for this fatal crash remained at the scene following the incident. However, it remains unclear whether criminal charges will be filed against him. Late Tuesday evening, authorities revealed that preliminary investigations suggest he may have blacked out before losing control of his vehicle and crashing into the parked cars.
As investigators work diligently to determine what led to this tragic event, our thoughts go out to all those affected by this heartbreaking loss of life and injuries inflicted upon innocent family members.
