A tragic accident involving a Greyhound bus and multiple semi-trucks has resulted in three fatalities and left 14 individuals injured. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning near Highland, Illinois.

According to the Illinois State Police, the Greyhound bus collided with three parked semi-trucks on the off-ramp of a rest stop along westbound I-70 at approximately 2 a.m. The bus was en route from Indianapolis to St. Louis when the collision took place.

Emergency services transported four individuals via helicopter while another ten were rushed to local hospitals by ambulance for immediate medical attention. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those occupying the semi-trucks.

Greyhound officials released a statement regarding this unfortunate incident: "We can confirm an incident occurred this morning involving Greyhound schedule number 1675 traveling from Indianapolis to St. Louis... Our primary concern is ensuring we care for our passengers and driver at this time." They further added that they are working closely with local authorities and arranging for a relief bus to assist stranded passengers.

Authorities have confirmed that all three fatalities occurred among those traveling on the bus, while no injuries were reported among the occupants of the trucks involved in the collision. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, transporting four individuals by helicopter and ten others by ambulance to local hospitals for urgent medical treatment.

The exact details regarding those who lost their lives or sustained injuries have not been released by police authorities as of yet.

Following extensive cleanup efforts, all westbound lanes and the ramp to the rest area were reopened around noon. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has announced that it will conduct an investigation into the crash.
