Hastings Woman Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash in Hall County

A tragic two-vehicle crash in Hall County, Nebraska has claimed the life of a Hastings woman. According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office (HSCO), the incident occurred on Tuesday night on Highway 281 near Doniphan.
At approximately 10:16 p.m., deputies from HSCO responded to the scene after receiving reports of the collision. Preliminary investigations suggest that a semi truck was traveling southbound on Highway 281 and preparing to make a westward turn into a gravel lot when it was rear-ended by a Hyundai Sonata driven by Diana Dieken, aged 79, from Hastings.
Dieken sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was immediately transported by ambulance to Grand Island Regional Medical Center. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the medical facility. The sheriff's office noted that Dieken had not been wearing her seat belt at the time of impact.
The driver of the semi truck has been identified as Carlos Roberto Guerrero Gomez, aged 29, from Alliance. Fortunately, he escaped unharmed in this devastating accident and had been wearing his seat belt properly.
In order to aid with further investigation into this incident, an accident reconstruction team was called to examine and analyze evidence at the scene. As of now, no additional details regarding their findings have been released.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work diligently to determine all factors contributing to this fatal crash.
