Three critically injured in head-on collision on I-70

Three people were critically injured and a second passenger in the backseat of the Ford ran away on foot.
The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a head-on collision that occurred along Interstate 70 near downtown late Wednesday night. According to KCPD, the accident involved two vehicles - a red Infiniti and a white Ford Explorer.
Reports suggest that the Infiniti was traveling west on I-70 near The Paseo when it collided with the Ford Explorer, which was traveling east in the westbound lanes. The driver of the Infiniti sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital. However, police say he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Similarly, the driver of the Ford also sustained critical injuries and had to be taken to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators believe that he too wasn't wearing his seatbelt during this incident.
Moreover, potential impairment is under investigation as well. A front-seat passenger who wasn't wearing their seatbelt suffered serious injuries and has been hospitalized too. Meanwhile, another passenger in the backseat fled from the scene on foot; it's unclear if they were injured or not.
At present, no one involved in this crash has been publicly identified by authorities yet. The investigation into what caused this accident remains ongoing at this time.
