Head-on Crash in Clovis Kills 32-year-old Man from Prather

Driver of Tesla pronounced dead, pickup driver hospitalized with major non-life-threatening injuries
California Highway Patrol officers are currently investigating a tragic head-on crash that resulted in the death of a driver in Clovis. The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 10:10 p.m. along eastbound Highway 168, just east of West Shepherd Avenue.
According to authorities, a 32-year-old man from Prather was driving his Tesla Y in the eastbound lane when, for reasons yet to be determined, he lost control of his vehicle. At the same time, a 59-year-old man from Prather was traveling westbound in his Chevrolet pickup truck on Highway 168.
Tragically, the Tesla veered into the westbound lane and collided head-on with the pickup truck. Upon impact, the Tesla burst into flames and was fully engulfed by fire when firefighters arrived at the scene.
Regrettably, emergency responders pronounced the driver of the Tesla dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the pickup truck driver to a nearby hospital with significant non-life-threatening injuries. As of now, there is no update available regarding his current condition.
At this stage of their investigation, it remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in causing this devastating crash. Authorities are awaiting toxicology results before making any determinations regarding potential contributing factors.
