Deputies Respond to Fatal Head-On Crash in Victor
Deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff's Office responded to a head-on crash that occurred overnight on Sunday in Victor, New York. The accident took place at around 12:20 a.m. near State Route 96 and Rowley Road.
According to deputies, 82-year-old Henry Lopez of Brooklyn was driving northbound on Route 96 when he failed to keep right and entered the southbound lane of traffic, colliding with another driver. The other driver was identified as Kasey Wesley, age 36, from Canandaigua. Wesley was checked at the scene and released.
Lopez suffered chest pain and fractures and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. His front passenger, Daphne Lopez (age 64), also complained of chest pain and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for medical attention.
Tragically, Gladys Villorente (age 84) from Brooklyn - who had been riding in the backseat of Henry Lopez's car - succumbed to her injuries sustained during the crash after being taken to SMH for complaints of chest pain.
The southbound lane of Route 96 remained closed while first responders worked at the scene. Deputies cited Henry Lopez for failing to keep right but stated that drugs, alcohol or speed were not factors contributing towards this incident.
