Gabriel Barrera Jr. Dies in Hit and Run Accident

Gabriel Barrera Jr. died, Santos Sontay is recovering, six others sustained non-life threatening injuries
A tragic hit and run accident that occurred on Friday night has resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy. Gabriel Barrera Jr. was critically injured when a driver of a 2014 Nissan Murano ran a stop sign and collided with the southbound Toyota Highlander driven by his father, Gabriel Barrera, 43, at Springfield Highway and Baker Station Road.
According to reports, passengers Barrera Jr. and Santos Sontay, 22, were both seriously injured and transported to area hospitals. Unfortunately, young Gabriel did not survive his injuries.
Santos Sontay is currently recovering from their injuries sustained in the crash while six other passengers aged between nine to forty-one years old also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Nissan Murano fled on foot after abandoning their vehicle at the scene of the accident. Fatal crash investigators are working hard to identify this individual positively.
