Infant died, man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries

An infant tragically lost their life in a car crash over the weekend in Goodyear, Arizona. The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 12:30 p.m. when a vehicle collided with a utility pole, as reported by Goodyear Deputy Fire Capt. Tim Wayne.

The collision resulted in both a 30-year-old man and a 9-month-old girl being ejected from the car. Sadly, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while the man sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to investigators from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, no car seat was found within the vehicle and neither occupant had been wearing seat belts at the time of impact. While impairment does not seem to have played a role in causing this tragic crash, authorities have not ruled out speed as a contributing factor.

At present, authorities have chosen not to release any names associated with those involved in this heartbreaking accident.

This serves as yet another reminder of how crucial it is for drivers to prioritize safety measures such as using appropriate restraints for children and ensuring that all occupants are properly secured with seat belts while traveling on roadways.
