A major interstate has been closed following a crash involving a dump truck and a tractor-trailer. The incident occurred on I-85 northbound near Old US Hwy 64/Raleigh Road, causing significant disruptions to traffic flow.
According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), the accident took place when a dump truck traveling down I-85 northbound collided with a bridge in the vicinity of Old US Hwy 64/Raleigh Road. As a result of the impact, the bed of the dump truck detached from its chassis. Subsequently, a tractor-trailer swerved abruptly to avoid colliding with the disabled dump truck but ended up overturning.
Emergency services are currently at the scene attending to any potential injuries; however, it remains unclear whether anyone was harmed during this incident. Meanwhile, authorities have closed off both an exit ramp and two lanes on I-85 northbound as they work diligently to resolve this situation.
Crews present at the site estimate that it will take several hours before normal traffic can resume along I-85 northbound in this area. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes or exercise patience while waiting for further updates regarding road reopening.
