Clement was treated for injuries at AdventHealth-Palm Coast and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.

A man from Palm Coast, Florida was arrested after crashing his pickup truck into a fire hydrant and attacking a deputy sheriff. The incident occurred at the RaceTrac gas station on State Road 100 and Old Kings Road last Thursday afternoon.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Frank Clement Jr., 52, was charged with driving under the influence with property damage/personal injury, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and reckless driving. He is scheduled to be arraigned in court on July 10th.

Clement reportedly told deputies that he had been drinking before crashing his Ford Ranger into the fire hydrant. When asked what happened by one of the responding officers, Clement claimed not to know. However, as the deputy investigated further, Clement advanced towards him in a threatening manner.

The sheriff’s office stated that "as the deputy tried to arrest him (Clement), he battered the deputy by 'forcefully grabbing him'". According to reports, Clement even grabbed onto the deputy's groin during this altercation.

Fortunately for all involved parties no serious injuries were reported but Clement did require medical attention at AdventHealth-Palm Coast before being transported to jail where he remains held on $30k bail.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly commented on this case saying: “Getting drunk, driving a vehicle and crashing is bad enough but then attacking a deputy sheriff will only land you in jail with even more charges including felony charges… Fortunately our Deputy was not seriously hurt defending himself from his attacker.”
