Two injured, one dead

A tragic accident in Creek County, Oklahoma has claimed the life of a teenager and left two others injured. The incident occurred on Thursday near 161st Street South and South 49th West Avenue when a truck and an SUV collided.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the driver of the truck, identified as Joshua Wood, 41 years old from Jenks, sustained injuries to his arm, leg, and chest. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, after receiving medical attention, Wood was released.

Tragically, a 15-year-old girl who was riding with Wood at the time of the crash did not survive her injuries. Troopers reported that she was ejected approximately ten feet from the truck upon impact. The young girl has been identified as Hadley Wood by Kiefer Public Schools Superintendent Randy Shaw.

In a statement mourning Hadley's loss, Shaw described her as an exceptional student and member of their softball team. He fondly recalled watching her practice just days before the accident and praised her character: "Hadley was thoughtful and polite and will be missed."

Shaw extended his condolences to Hadley's family on behalf of Kiefer Public Schools (KPS). He urged everyone "Please keep Hadley and her family in your thoughts and prayers... At this time everyone needs a family and friend."

The driver of the other vehicle has been identified as 19-year-old Kaitlyn O'Malley. O'Malley suffered arm injuries that required hospitalization. Another 19-year-old identified as Manuel Garza emerged unscathed.

Authorities are currently investigating what caused this tragic wreck while also determining whether seatbelts were in use. As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of a promising young life and offers support to those affected by this devastating accident.
